Origin: the factory storm

The Cyborgs were born on Araze, created by Oramor Vael’Oran, the 8945th king, to serve the Arazians. A violent storm struck their factory: the short-circuit turned them criminal. They killed Oramor, then founded their own empire on a once-lush planet — now the factory-world Karn-Tor IX. Read the full account.

The Cyborgs form a mechanized power built upon hierarchy, optimization and control. Their principal centre is Karn-Tor IX, a factory-world sheathed in megastructures, data towers and geometric transport lines.

Their language is made to command, to classify, to transmit statuses and decisions. Where the Arazians govern by memory and nobility, the Cyborgs govern by production, replacement, calculation and yield.

They despise civilizations that let nature impose its cycles, yet they understand the strategic value of living resources. That is why Éclaira draws them as much as it irritates them.

Principal strengths

  • massive war production
  • rapid replacement of units
  • systemic memory and archiving
  • strategies of attrition

Cyborg names

Cyborg names begin, in the main, with one or two letters followed by a number. Examples drawn from the archives: Z 845, X 34, K 963, W 9, V 52.

The current sovereign of the Cyborgs is King WZ 6095.

The schmil

A disguised Cyborg selling schmil The schmil is a liquor created by the Cyborgs. Since the whole universe hates the Cyborgs, they hide beneath another appearance and travel from planet to planet to sell it.

But the schmil is in truth a drug: it makes one want to drink ever more of it, and can drive one truly mad. It is also one of the reasons the Cyborgs are banned from the galactic restaurant of L.G.L.M.D.T..

Principal weakness

Their logic sometimes leaves them unable to grasp the symbolic and cultural dimension of certain peoples — which complicates any lasting domination.
