VR 90
General of the Cyborg aerospace army, the oldest pilot still in service and master of the flight lines of Karn-Tor IX.

General VR 90 commands the aerospace army of the Cyborgs: everything that lifts off Karn-Tor IX leaves from his flight lines, and everything that does not come back appears on his tables.
His name is one of the shortest in the Cyborg registers — two letters, two digits. On Karn-Tor IX a short number means one thing: the unit is old, and it has outlived every unit that carried a longer one.
The pilot who was never replaced
Among Cyborgs a damaged unit is not repaired: it is replaced. VR 90 is the exception the empire itself quotes — he has crossed eleven generations of hardware without ever going back for a rebuild.
His service record fits on one line the archives of Varn-Kor Central have not needed to correct in centuries: he has never lost a craft he was flying himself.
He has, on the other hand, lost entire wings, and makes no secret of it. It is even his favourite argument before the staff: a wing can be refabricated in eight days, a pilot who understands why it died cannot.
The flight lines
Under his command the runways of Karn-Tor IX run like the rest of the factory world: as a flow. Interceptors come off the lines, taxi, take off, and the lines begin again — no hangar, no reserve, no idle time.
Arazians who have faced that army all tell the same story: it is not the quality of the craft that impresses, it is seeing the next wave already taxiing while the first is still burning.
His doctrine
It is broadcast in clear on his units’ channels, and the officers of Araze know it by heart from intercepting it a thousand times:
The sky is not a territory. It is a queue.
Against the fighter school of Araze
VR 90 is the direct opponent of the pilots trained by Colonel Ma’Thur us Da’elrok: where the Arazian trains pilots so that they come back, the Cyborg produces craft on the assumption that they will not.
The two doctrines have been meeting for centuries without either one winning. The Codex refrains from saying which is right.
What the archives do not say
No Arazian document says what VR 90 looked like before his first hull rebuild, nor whether the unit carrying that number today is the same one that carried it eleven generations ago. The Cyborgs, for their part, do not see the question.
